MXS Pickup Night Rulebook

Official rules for flexible 4v4 and 5v5 pickup tournament nights in Infinite Tournament Paintball.
Version 2.1 • August 2026

MXS Paintball is an independent, community-run competition and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the developer of Infinite Tournament Paintball.

01

Pickup-night overview & sportsmanship

MXS provides organized, competitive, and fair pickup tournament nights in Infinite Tournament Paintball. Players register for individual events, confirm attendance before play, and are placed into teams by MXS staff. Respect players and officials. Harassment, hate speech, excessive toxicity, cheating, exploiting, and intentional disruption are prohibited.

02

Player profile & event registration

Each player creates one profile with their in-game name and Discord account. When an event is posted, players may register for that specific event at any time while registration remains open. Event registration gives staff an early turnout estimate but does not guarantee placement, playing time, a particular teammate, or entry in the team generator.

03

Attendance confirmation

Every event has a confirmation window set by its organizer and displayed in each player's local timezone. A registered player must return during that window and press Confirm Attendance. Only confirmed players enter that event's team generator. Players should not confirm unless they are ready to remain for the full event.

04

Team formation

After confirmation closes, MXS staff randomly generates teams from confirmed players. Pickup nights normally use 4v4 or 5v5. The organizer selects the team size that best fits turnout and may regenerate teams in another format before assignments are published. Teams exist for that night only and may be different at the next event. Staff may name one player as the event captain solely to relay information and communicate with officials.

05

Attendance & format adjustments

The number of teams and tournament structure depend on actual attendance. At least eight ready players are required for an official 4v4 event, and at least ten are required for 5v5. When turnout does not divide evenly, MXS may use rotating reserves, adjust team size, run a round robin, organize scrimmages, or use another fair format announced before play begins. If a round robin has an odd number of teams, one team receives a rotating bye each round. With fewer than eight players, staff may run an unofficial practice night or cancel the event.

06

Team commitment & replacements

Once teams are announced, players are expected to compete with their assigned team for the full event. A player may not change teams without staff approval. If someone leaves, disconnects permanently, or becomes unable to continue, MXS may assign a confirmed reserve, rebalance teams, allow a temporary substitute, or adjust the remaining format. Staff decisions will prioritize keeping the event playable and fair.

07

Match format, scoring & overtime

MXS announces the match schedule, race length, and time limits after teams are formed. Two-, four-, and eight-team tournaments use championship and placement matches. Other team counts use a round robin so every team receives a final position. Round-robin standings are ordered by match wins, score differential, points scored, then team number. A point is earned by eliminating the opposing team or completing the active map objective. If time expires, the team with the higher score wins regardless of remaining body count. If the score is tied, one sudden-death overtime point is played on the same layout. Event results apply only to that pickup night; there are no permanent team standings.

08

Match readiness & disconnects

Players must enter their assigned team voice channel and report ready when called. MXS will keep the event moving and may replace a player who is repeatedly absent or unresponsive. Staff may delay or adjust play for a verified league-wide Discord, server, or game outage. A disconnect before meaningful gameplay may cause a restart; after play develops, officials determine whether play continues or the point is replayed.

09

Eliminated-player communication

After being eliminated, a player may only say “Dead,” “I'm dead,” “Traded,” “I've traded,” or “Out.” Eliminated players may not communicate positions, body counts, last-player information, or any other tactical information. Once all players on a team are eliminated and the point has ended, normal team communication may resume. In-game text chat is not allowed until the match is finished.

10

Official team voice channels

During an official match, every active player must remain in their assigned MXS Discord team voice channel and may not use a private call, separate Discord channel, or outside voice service. Only active players and an MXS referee may remain in the channel while a match is in progress. Refusing to use the official channel makes a player ineligible to participate.

11

Gameplay restrictions

Hacks, scripts, exploits, glitches, bunny hopping, super crawling, jump shooting, shooting before the starting buzzer, and other unfair third-party or gameplay advantages are prohibited. Jumping is permitted only to cross beams. Players may not deliberately remain, run, or shoot from on top of a beam and must move off immediately after landing on one.

12

Penalties & enforcement

A minor penalty requires the offending player to sit out the next point, leaving the team short-handed. A major penalty requires two players to sit out the next point. If a team has no eligible players available, it automatically loses that point. Repeated, deliberate, improperly served, or contested violations may result in a point loss, match forfeit, removal from the event, suspension, or permanent ban.

13

Referees, hosting & disputes

Matches must be hosted by an MXS referee or approved neutral host. Suspected infractions must be reported to the referee before the next point begins. Players must raise disputes respectfully; arguing with officials or opposing teams may be penalized. Referees have final authority over match rulings and may correct an official score when a verified game error records a point incorrectly.

14

Broadcast & community policy

MXS events may be streamed, recorded, clipped, and published. By participating, players agree that event gameplay may be used for broadcasts and league promotion. Racist insults, discrimination, threats, fighting, harassment, and abusive arguments are prohibited.

15

Results & rule changes

MXS may publish the teams, match results, and winner from each pickup night. Because teams are rebuilt for every event, results do not create permanent team rosters or guarantee future assignments. MXS may update these rules when needed, but major changes will not take effect during an active tournament.

MXS MISSION

Show up. Get a team. Play.

Our goal is a welcoming, competitive night where individual players can get into organized matches without building or managing a permanent roster.
